New York is notorious for its crime rates. Even then, only a handful of stores are licensed to sell self defence products and shipping pepper spray to the city is illegal. ‘The Bodega’ is a space that sells self defence items and provides self defence training to members of vulnerable communities, at a sliding scale. Protests against discrimination across the ages served as visual inpiration.
